Walnut Creek On Ice: $10.00 Family Tuesdays!

Bring the family to the rink on Tuesday, February 2 & 9 for only $10.00! Promotional price includes admission and skate rental for the entire family. Offer good for immediate family living within a single residence and not to be combined with other offers. The Walnut Creek Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Business Association are pleased to announce that Walnut Creek On Ice is extending the season and will be open until Monday, February 15. This outdoor seasonal ice rink, located at 1365 Civic Drive, in Civic Park, near the intersection of N. Broadway, was originally planned to close after Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on January 18.

"We've had a great season so far and are thrilled with the continued enthusiasm and support from the community. People always ask for it to stay longer and we are excited our winter wonderland will continue to provide more joy into 2010" said Mary Ellen Dudum and Neil Gerstner, co-chairs of Walnut Creek On Ice. "The rink has a great management team, some improvements, a fresh new layout, the newest rental skates available and plenty of them! The response from the public has been positive and overwhelming."

Walnut Creek On Ice extended hours will be:
Monday, January 18: 10:00 - 9:00pm (Martin Luther King, Jr. Day)
Monday - Thursday: 3:00 - 9:00pm
Friday: 3:00 - 11:00pm
Saturday: 11:00 - 11:00pm
Sunday: 11:00 - 9:00pm
Monday, February 15: 10:00 - 9:00pm (Presidents' Day)


"With the Olympics starting this February in Vancouver, we think the community and our guests will be excited about having a great place to skate longer" say Jay Hoyer, President/CEO of the Walnut Creek Chamber of Commerce. "The downtown merchants will also benefit with the longer season. Perhaps a future Olympian will get their start at Walnut Creek On Ice."

Walnut Creek on Ice, located in historic Civic Park, will brighten the downtown neighborhood with thousands of twinkling lights, snowflakes and holiday music. Enthusiastic skaters, young and old, will enjoy brand new skates on a new blanket of ice! The ice rink will feature an expanded observation deck for guests to watch family and friends glide by.

The rink will be open daily at 11 am, closing at 9 pm; Friday and Saturday at 11 pm. Non-peak pricing (Monday- Friday & Friday’s before 5pm) is $11 with skate rental. Peak hours (Friday after 5pm, all day Saturday & Sunday) pricing is $15 with skate rental. Peak pricing will be in effect during Thanksgiving weekend & December 22-January 1. Discounted group rates are offered.


New programming includes the Learn To Skate program, a nationally accredited program through U.S. Figure Skating. Weekly lesson packages include parent tot classes on Tuesday mornings, youth lessons on Saturday mornings and adult classes offered on Thursday evenings. Birthday party packages are offered & the rink is available for private and corporate parties.


Convenient parking is located near Civic Park as well as a drop-off/pick-up zone located on Civic Drive in front of the ice rink.  In addition to street & public garage parking, a free shuttle service is offered seven days a week for rides around downtown Walnut Creek to and from the Walnut Creek BART station.
