The Education Committee hosted their Teacher Appreciation Reception on Friday, May 4 at the Walnut Creek Historical Society's Shadelands Ranch Museum. Approximately 70 teachers from schools all over Walnut Creek joined us in the beautiful gardens of the museum for a delicious spread with food from Whole Food's Catering, wine from Lange Twins Family Winery and Vineyards, craft brews from Calicraft Brewing Co. (winner of the 2018 UXL Business of the Year Award) and dessert from Nothing Bundt Cakes. A new (exceptionally good) addition this year was live music performed by Grant Tudor, a Berean Christian alum, and he provided the perfect ambience for a lovely afternoon!
The event was attended by Chamber Board Chair Tim Argenti and Walnut Creek Mayor Justin Wedel, who each took a few minutes to express their thanks to the teachers, and Mark Brown, the Historical Society's Board Co-President, shared insight into the history of the Shadelands Ranch Museum.
At the end of the event gifts donated by local businesses were raffled out (teachers received a raffle ticket on arrival). There were great prizes and a great many prizes—everyone is happy to donate to the teachers for the wonderful work that they do. Thank you to everyone who came and to the Education Committee for all their hard work putting the event together. And of course, a big thank you to all the teachers—the work you do is invaluable and we appreciate you!
Thank you to all the wonderful local businesses that donated to our Teacher Appreciation Reception!
