The new California Sick Leave Law that took effect on July 1, 2015 requires all employers to adopt a paid sick leave policy. This law applies to all private and public sector employers regardless of size and covers all employees, including part-time workers. It is crucial for all employers to understand what the new mandate involves and to have a working knowledge of how to become, and remain, in compliance with state regulations. Please join us to discuss:
- Legal requirements as of today.
- When and how to comply.
- The importance of having a written paid sick leave policy in place.
- Who is covered under this law.
- How it impacts paid time off.
- Is sick leave a new protected class?
- How much paid sick leave employees are entitled to take.

Twenty-five individuals graduated from Leadership Contra Costasm, the Bay Area’s premier leadership program on Thursday May 7, 2015 at the Boundary Oak Clubhouse in Walnut Creek. The graduation ceremonies marked the culmination of an eight-month comprehensive program designed to identify and prepare potential community leaders. The Walnut Creek Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau sponsored its first Leadership class twenty-eight years ago and has since graduated nearly 700 individuals from the program. The curriculum includes presentations and workshops from community leaders about critical issues facing the community.
Leadership Contra Costasm accepts 25–30 individuals from diverse backgrounds to participate in the program. Leadership Contra Costasm is geared towards people who want to make a difference in the communities in which they live and work; spaces fill quickly.
